Griptonite Climbing Application

Introducing the Griptonite Application that I use to record the bouldering workouts that I climb at BoulderUK. 🔖#bouldering

I wanted to talk a little about the Griptonite Application that one of my bouldering walls utilises.

Griptonite uses QR code scanning to identify and log climbs completed, which is the feature that I first noticed when I began using the application around 18 months ago. All of the tags are geo located onto a plan of the rooms in the centre.

Once the workout is complete the key statistics will be identified on the activity feed, and the ability analysis on the profile will be updated. As you can see from mine, I'm not very good - though this was a deliberately low intensity workout as I've been struggling with hip and bag problems since the beginning of the year.

The granular detail of each workout is available from the training log (the little book icon on the top of the profile page). This shows the makeup of each climb completed, calculating an activity score based upon the technical difficulty of the climbs completed, and weighting down for repeats of previously completed climbs.

From a discipline and grading perspective, while I use Griptonite for indoor bouldering, it can also be used to record sport climbing, and use a range of grading systems including Font, French and Hueco for bouldering and French, UIAA, YDS, Norwegian, Dan-Kyu, and Ewbank for sport climbing.

There is much more in the Griptonite Application too, from the monthly competition at the wall based upon the combination of activity scores, through to organised competitions (as Plywood Masters 24 at BoulderUK below), directory of walls, and more recently the organisation of your climbing 'crew' or group.

I've seen that while I've been away Griptonite Pro has been introduced into the application, which for £3.99/month provides an AI driven training regime to improve climbing ability and strength.

I've not tested Griptonite Pro yet, and I don't think that I'm ready to start climbing regularly enough to start a structured training regime. I'll definitely consider using something like that when I do sort my back issues out though.
