December 2025

  1. One of my objectives for this week off was to connect a CMS to my 11ty site to make it easier to post from mobile - here is PagesCMS editing my repo directly, with Netlify auto publishing any commits. ✅

  2. I've made good progress on my 11ty site this weekend with new topic archives collating content types for each topic, and linking through from content meta sections, with a topics index page. I'm struggling to paginate archive pages though due to the dynamic content filtering inside my templates.

Split screen view with a atg page broken into article, note and imagepost sections to the left, and a post showing linked tags on the right
  3. I've removed image transform from my 11ty site, I was concerned about build time and resource usage once I start to bring legacy content across, replcing it with a webp conversion action in automator on my images folder. Pagination is the final item left on my initial todo list, but is trickier than it should be due to the dynamic filtration in my templates.

  4. So I have my site running on 11ty now. I still have a lot of work to do on content ingestion into feeds - I'll probably end up writing a feed template. I need to fix the conflict between my rss and image-transform plugin setup, and to finish various general template improvements.

November 2025

  1. I've been enjoying the simplicity of my bearblog, but am torn on whether to keep it, replicate it back into Kirby, or with an eye on the future recreate in maybe 11ty or Astro. Too much choice.

  2. This has taken such an unbelievable (days) amount of faff, but I finally have webmention likes that I send displaying as intended, and not just as 'mentions'.

October 2025

  1. Installing CDN video hosting into my BearBlog, along with a clips section, with plans to migrate all of my macretro youtube work into my own environ.

In one quick experiment last night, I tested Bunny for video hosting. That was really simple, embedding an iframe with the video url as src, and applying a minimal amount of styling in the theme to make the borders look better.

I then added my Clips section to the site, which I'll need to replicate on my front page. If costs are sensible, I will migrate all of my youtube hosted retro gaming content here.

It does seem to use a cookie, which I need to look at, but I don't think tracking anything beyond the session.

  2. Mastodon interactions displayed on a weblog.lol website

I've not noticed the interactions block on a weblog.lol site previously. I don't see whether it receives webmentions or from Bluesky. Might be an option if my current Bear experiment fails...

  3. Strangely my migration to my self-hosted mastodon server seems to have dropped my follows of (but not followers from) social.lol accounts. Hopefully I've found and readded them all today...

September 2025

  1. Having spent the last week or so playing around with BearBlog, I've just spent the last few hours importing everything into my main site. I can learn from the simplicity, but my Kirby CMS build just does more...

August 2025

  1. I've wanted to align my fediverse handle and email address for a while, and have prevaricated for a few weeks over how best to do it. In the end I set up a family server on my prry.uk domain, hopefully ending the inertia.

July 2025

  1. I have quickly added 4 x webmention templates to my site for bookmarks, likes, replies and reposts. Still working out exactly how they work, but excited about the functionality this adds to my site.

June 2025

  1. Testing out a direct post approach to Mastodon using IndieConnecter and reply collector with a dedicated field. A little duplication/compromise, but hopefully best combination of output & function.

  2. My link post format makes much more sense syndicated through rss on to micro.blog, than it does direct posted through to mastodon and Bluesky. Might need to revisit that.

May 2025

  1. Two shots of the same post on my fed.brid.gy user from mastodon with files and tags, and bluesky as card only. Can anybody shed any light on what might be causing bluesky to only render the preview card?

  2. It took a little research to find out how to display file sizes nicely on card previews in the @getkirby panel, but the appropriately named

    text: "{{ file.nicesize }} - {{ file.dimensions }}"

    query does just that.

  3. I'm still experimenting with fed.brid.gy as a direct fediverse presence for my site. I quite like the concept, though I need to add additional content types for likes, shares and comments for that to work properly.

  4. I'm going to experiment with using @lee-perry.co.uk@lee-perry.co.uk on fed.brid.gy to see if viable as main fedivers presence. Mainly to reduce time scrolling through crap.

  5. It's been a really busy year, so I've a couple of months of football to catch up on in my digital garden. Advance apologies for the incoming torrent of all things Burnley I'm about to add to my feed!

  6. Achievement of the weekend was refining my rss feed to show micro posts as titleless posts in the micro. blog timeline. Had it working last night, but fully rebuilt it today as I broke something with my final tweaks last night.

April 2025

  1. After spending the evening rebuilding microformats, as hoped, comments are now landing on the target article, and not my homepage. The indiewebify.me validators made this so much easier than the documentation.

  2. As it was a long weekend, I spent a day installing Komments 3.1.1 on my Kirby CMS build, and styling the new output streams. Have just concluded a morning of looking for html problems in my css.

March 2025

  1. I've just tweaked my main RSS feed to incorporate both articles and micro posts... apologies if doing that flooded your feedreader or timeline like it did mine.

January 2025

  1. I’m weighing moving my fediverse presence (but not my website) back to micro.blog rather than running own instance. What I don’t know is if I would still receive like and boost webmentions made on mastodon, though not surfaced on micro.blog

  2. I've come up with a way to link blog and digital garden pages together on my website using a hidden tag field. I would have preferred to reverse the linked page field, but struggled to implement.

I can get on now with building out the remainder of my structure, and tidying up and arranging my content. While for future posts the two sections are semi automatically linked, galleries build directly from uploads, and the new RSS feeds automate posting to the IndieWeb.
